Get to Know the Bands Performing at DCMD’s 6th Anniversary Show

Out of all the things we’re celebrating this Saturday, our anniversary is probably the lowest priority on the list for us. Sure, we’ll have a cake and all the usual birthday trappings, but the real point of this party is to showcase some of the excellent acts we admire in D.C.

So what can you expect at this year’s show? Well, a little bit of everything and anything. Just about every type of sound is represented on this lineup–from ‘splatter’ pop and jazz to electronic and rock.

After headlining premier festivals like Billboard’s Hot 100, Firefly and South by Southwest, SHAED will deliver a rare hometown performance exclusively for our anniversary party. The electro-pop trio will be joined by D.C. music shamans Nag Champa, who bring to the table a freewheeling live show that incorporates jazz, house, go-go and soul, rising avant-garde pop group Fielder (who some might remember by their former moniker of Dawkins), and multi-instrumentalist and one-woman wonder OG Lullabies, who’ll celebrate her EP release.

Keeping with tradition, we’re also planning to use this show to benefit a worthy cause that’s close to us. One dollar from every ticket sale will benefit D.C. non-profit Casa Ruby, who provides essential resources like hot meals, a community center, clothing, emergency housing referrals and legal counseling to the local LGBTQIA community,

On top of all the awesome people that will be there, it’ll be almost 60 degrees and sunny on Saturday, the perfect chance to check out D.C.’s newest venue at The Wharf, Union Stage. Before our show rolls around, get to know all the artists performing at Union Stage this Saturday via our curated playlist and make sure to grab your tickets before they’re gone!
