A new year, a new show! We’re excited to announce our newest project, Know Your Scene, a show that’ll air on Full Service Radio on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from The Line Hotel in Adams Morgan. Know Your Scene is where we’ll cover topical discussions on the music scene in more depth than we can here on DCMD.com, sitting down with the local vanguards who are making significant contributions to the community. The show is hosted by DCMD founder and editor-in-chief Stephanie Williams.

Shedding more light into the current state of D.C. music is Jamal Gray, founder of DIY arts and music venue Uptown Art House, creative visionary of Nag Champa music ensemble, Raygunomics and CMPVTR CLVB and tenacious activist who’s inspired countless artists in the city. For the first episode of Know Your Scene, Stephanie speaks with Jamal about what it takes to survive as a musician in D.C., what it takes to run a DIY venue, diversity in the music scene and a whole lot more.

Subscribe to our podcast on iTunes and catch Jamal and the rest of Nag Champa at our sixth anniversary party happening at Union Stage on Saturday, Jan. 27!
