Over the course of his long, prolific career, it’s surprising that world-renowned composer Philip Glass has yet to play the Kennedy Center. That will all change next year, as he’ll share the stage with Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes for a one-night-only collaboration.

The performance, 20 Etudes, will highlight Glass’ etudes that were composed over a 20 year period. Aside from Glass and Hynes, Kennedy Center Artistic Director of Jazz and MacArthur Fellow Jason Moran, Aaron Diehl and Jenny Lin will also perform on the piano and add their own interpretations to Glass’ etudes.

The show will take place on March 9, 2018, and tickets will go on sale November 15 to the general public. 20 Etudes is one of several shows a part of Kennedy Center’s two-week event series Direct Current, which spotlights contemporary culture.
