New D.C. Venue Pearl Street Warehouse Reveals Initial Concert Schedule
When Southwest D.C. development The Wharf opens next month, it’ll be a hotbed for buzzy new restaurants, stores and concert halls. Aside from Union Stage (from the owners of Vienna, VA venue Jammin’ Java) and The Anthem (from the owners of 9:30 Club), Pearl Street Warehouse will offer a robust schedule of music, and we finally get to know who will be first to play there.
Legendary multi-instrumentalist and Grammy lifetime achievement winner Booker T. Jones will headline Pearl Street’s grand opening show on Oct. 12, according to the Washington Post. Other notable touring acts like Town Mountain (10/14), Dom Flemons (11/18) and Drive-By Truckers‘ frontman Patterson Hood (12/2 and 12/3) will play at the 300-capacity venue, in addition to locals like Justin Jones on November 3. The full concert schedule is up on Pearl Street’s website.
Pearl Street Warehouse is owned and operated by the same folks behind Cantina Marina (which is sadly closing for the next few years). Booking the music is veteran talent buyer Lisa White, who has previously worked with 9:30 Club and Gypsy Sally’s.
