The D.C. Public Library has offered a robust slate of live music over the years, mostly at its MLK Library location that recently closed in March for renovations. Since its closure, most of the library’s concert series have gone into hiatus while staff tried to find alternative venues. Their popular D.C. Punk Archive basement shows recently came back to Woodridge Neighborhood Library’s rooftop for the summer, and now their other subterranean series, Jazz in the Basement, is set to make its return this Sunday.
Between 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Goethe-Institut/German Cultural Center, acclaimed D.C. drummer Allen Jones will perform with his talented trio composed of bassist Tarus Mateen and pianist Colin Chambers. Accomplished musicians in their own right, it will be a treat to see them all play together in the same room on Sunday afternoon. The show is free to get in, and you can RSVP to it here.
Goethe-Institut/German Cultural Center is located at 1990 K Street Northwest #03 Washington, DC 20006. Show 2 p.m./FREE
