Logic Scores First Number One Album, Dethroning Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’
Congrats are in order for Gaithersburg, Maryland native Logic, whose third studio album has reached no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Everybody, released on May 5, is the rapper’s first chart-topping record. In its first week, the record garnered 247,000 album-equivalent units (from that total, 196,000 were traditional album sales), and takes the top spot away from Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. Besides this being Logic’s best sales week ever, it’s also the third-highest performing week of any rap album released this year, coming in only behind DAMN. (which earned 603,000 units) and Drake’s More Life (505,000 units).
Even more impressive is how far Logic has come since releasing his first album in 2014. Under Pressure debuted at no. 4 on the charts and earned 72,000 units in its first week, while his 2015 sophomore release, the Incredible True Story, got 135,000 units and debuted at no. 3.
