When Southwest waterfront development The Wharf opens this fall, it’ll include two big venue openings. One is the I.M.P.-owned project The Anthem, and the other is Pearl Street Warehouse, a 300-capacity space that’ll showcase local and touring bluegrass, rock and Americana acts. To help bring music heavy-hitters to the venue, Pearl Street has hired veteran talent buyer Lisa White to spearhead booking efforts.
White has been a fixture of the local music scene for nearly 30 years, serving as one of 9:30 Club’s talent buyers from 1991-2013. Most recently, White booked music acts for Georgetown venue Gypsy Sally’s, another local spot well-known for spotlighting Americana and roots ‘n’ rock bands.
“With Lisa’s music background and keen ear for talent, the Pearl Street Warehouse stage will be the place where new bands break out, and where touring artists stop for an intimate show,” said co-founder Bruce A. Gates in a press release. “Lisa is creating more than a lineup, she is helping to craft the Pearl Street Warehouse experience, one that is genuine and music forward.”
Pearl Street Warehouse is owned and operated by the same group behind Southwest bar and restaurant Cantina Marina. Complementing the Americana-focused music is the food and drink menu, which will feature classic comfort dishes and cocktails.
