Nearly one year since releasing their excellent self-titled debut EP, D.C. post-punk trio Flasher is back with new music. Today the band premiered their catchy single, “Winnie,” off their forthcoming seven-inch record that’ll drop on May 5 via Sister Polygon Records. The song is a statement to the media’s role in fueling paranoia, with the lyrics being an amalgamation of jingles and quotes plucked from newscasts and commercials. This pushes forward the frenetic energy and intensity of “Winnie,” which is harnessed by an infectious hook throughout.
Besides the new single, Flasher also announced new tour dates today that includes a show at Comet Ping Pong on April 28 and a free performance at the Smithsonian American Art Museum on June 22. Listen to “Winnie” below:
