Frank Ocean Names GoldLink’s “When I Die” As One of His All-Time Favorite Songs

By Stephanie Williams | News

GoldLink is at the top of his game right now. Just two years ago, the D.C. MC released his debut mixtape, The God Complex, on SoundCloud, and now he’s signed with RCA Records and selling out shows all over the world. With that said, it’s no surprise that music heavyweights like Frank Ocean have caught wind of the rising rapper and his signature future bounce sound.

In his new zine, Boys Don’t Cry, which was released alongside his highly-anticipated album, Blonde, Ocean shared some of his favorite songs. GoldLink’s “When I Die,” off of his debut mixtape, is listed alongside songs from icons like Kraftwerk, Simon & Garfunkel, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra, and Nina Simone.

The zine was only available in a handful of pop-up shops around the U.S. and London, so if you weren’t able to get your hands on it, Apple Music has released a playlist of Ocean’s favorite tunes that you can listen to below. Also, GoldLink released a funky new tune co-produced by Kaytranada and BADBADNOTGOOD called “Fall in Love” last week that you can also listen to here:
