Prince’s Yellow Cloud Guitar is Now on Display at the National Museum of American History

Next time you stop by the National Museum of American History, make sure to check out Prince’s Yellow Cloud guitar.

The museum will have it displayed on the third floor in the west wing of the building through September 5. Prince designed the guitar himself and had it custom made by Minneapolis, Minn. firm Knut-Koupee Enterprises in 1989.

Besides the guitar, there are more treasured Prince items on display at other Smithsonian museums around town. The National Portrait Gallery has a photograph of the icon that’s on display through May 31, and starting this fall, The National Museum of African American History and Culture will have a couple of his prized possessions on display.
