Playlist: Get to Know the Bands Representing D.C. at South by Southwest

D.C.’s music scene once again has a strong presence at South by Southwest, as the Executive Office of the Mayor along with Washington DC Economic Partnership, Events DC and the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development hosts its big music showcase at the WeDC House.

Since Friday, the WeDC House has been bustling with locally-centric events focused on tech, film and entertainment.  Added into the mix were performances from local acts like Tigers are Bad for Horses, Redline Graffiti, Visto, Asheru, Go Cozy, BOOMScat, Mannywellz, DJ Money and more with an after-party on Saturday night that featured Questlove.

The main music showcase, which takes place today, will be headlined by Wale along with Maggie Rose, Chaz French, Gallant, Mannywellz, Young Rapids,  Go Cozy, Redline Graffiti, Tabi Bonney, Tigers are Bad for Horses, BOOMScat, TROPIXXX, Visto, Spicoli, The Borrowers and Jay IDK. Despite the DC Economic Partnership inviting Rare Essence to the party last year, who made history as the first go-go band to perform at an official SXSW showcase, there’s no go-go on the lineup this time around.
