Last Sunday, I went to check out the Kennedy Center’s ambitious festival, Finding a Line, which intertwined the worlds of music and skateboarding. Built directly in front of the Kennedy Center, the skate park drew in participants and spectators of all ages during the open skate sessions (to my surprise, many small children were skating, and they weren’t half bad!). Most spectators sat up on the bleachers and watched the skaters perform down below in the half-pipe and on the rails. There was an area built out to the side of the main arena that extended along the length of the Kennedy Center –it was more open and had smaller ramps/obstacles that skaters would play on. Overall, the event was fun and Chain & the Gang was quite good–people were still skating into the night as they performed.
