Although it’s only April, 2014 is shaping up to be another great year for D.C.’s electronic music scene. Local stalwarts like Outputmessage and newcomers Cavale have released great albums this year that were both ambitious efforts. Keeping up the momentum is Drop Electric’s drummer Ramtin Arablouei, who recently unveiled his new solo project under the pseudonym Dullard.

“Over the course of the last year I’ve written a bunch of songs and sketches that just weren’t the right fit for Drop Electric,” says Arablouei. “I’ve since revisited them and worked them into their own unique tracks.”

Arablouei’s eclectic catalog of new tunes possesses an entrancing, cinematic aesthetic that is a truthful reflection of his love for hip hop and EDM culture. “I love using synths, my own vocal samples, and live drums to create unique sounds. I’m constantly writing music. It is at the core of who I am.” says Arablouei.

This Thursday will mark the live debut of Dullard at Velvet Lounge. In the meantime, you can check out the songs from the project here:
