Sonic Circuits Returns in October-And Also Needs Money

Experimental music/cultural festival Sonic Circuits comes back for another installment on October 1. In its 13th year, the event will extend for nearly a week, which is much longer than last year’s three-day stint. With the amount of success that Sonic Circuits’ organizers had last year at Atlas Performing Arts Center (located in the H Street Corridor), the festival will return back to the venue, in addition to hosting events at AFI Theatre located in Silver Spring and NoMa’s latest DIY space, Union Arts.

This year’s Sonic Circuits’ line-up boasts nearly 50 acts covering music, dance and live cinema performances. The Anthony Pirog Sextet, TA Zook & Mike Sebastian and The Jazzfakers are just a select few expected to perform at this year’s showing.

Similar to previous years, Sonic Circuit relies heavily on generous donations to keep the festival going. Through September 9, you can contribute to the event’s Indiegogo campaign, which has a set goal of $7,000. All the funds raised will cover expenses ranging from transportation costs for the performing artists to renting equipment. At the time this post was written, only $200 was raised towards the funding goal, with 14 days left to go.

In addition to the campaign, Sonic Circuits will also be holding a benefit concert on September 15 at Pyramid Atlantic [8230 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD]. Tickets are $10, and the show starts at 7p.m.

Tickets for Sonic Circuits will officially become available in early September.
